COSHH forms used by classes of students can be linked from Myplace. The reference ID of a COSHH form is the ID displayed at the top of the COSHH form, and will not change. For example:
The internal ID is the database ID that holds the information that makes up a particular COSHH form, and is used in the web address of the COSHH form e.g:
https://www.coshh.strath.ac.uk/coshh_view.php?ID=4935
The internal ID and reference ID will match on the first version of a COSHH. However, any review of a COSHH will result in a new internal ID if there are any changes to the COSHH as part of the review. This change results in an update to the web page link that you would use to direct a student to the correct form. However, rather than updating Myplace every time a review takes place, the COSHH tool allows you to enter a special version of the link that will always take the user to the current version of the COSHH form. This is done by simply appending &m=1 to the end of the web address for the original COSHH form.
For example, for the COSHH form with the reference ID 4935 would have the link of:
https://www.coshh.strath.ac.uk/coshh_view.php?ID=4935
however, when it was first reviewed, this changed to:
https://www.coshh.strath.ac.uk/coshh_view.php?ID=9048
and in further reviews (rev 2 and rev 3):
https://www.coshh.strath.ac.uk/coshh_view.php?ID=12713
https://www.coshh.strath.ac.uk/coshh_view.php?ID=12717
Note that the reference ID doesn't change. To simplify the maintenence of links to COSHH forms, instead of editing the link on Myplace each session, adding &m=1 to the end of the web address tells the COSHH system to 'look up' the most recent version and display it:
https://www.coshh.strath.ac.uk/coshh_view.php?ID=4935&m=1
So if this is added to the Myplace link when the COSHH is first used, staff never need to update the link in the future.
