This is the SPIDER Template System (STS), a simple to configure, self contained website and content management system (CMS). It's been developed by Ian Thompson and Tim Plumridge so that departmental project and related websites can be created quickly and easily, and managed by non-technical people so that the owners of the site can keep their own web site up to date without having any knowledge of HTML, CSS or scripting.

The STS is built on the same LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) foundations that underpin SPIDER and it shares many of its features with this system. STS uses a WYSIWYG page editor called TinyMCE to manage basic site pages, but STS provides its own tools for more complex functions such as posting news, discussion forums, member mailings, document storage, image gallery and much more. It takes a few minutes for us to configure a site ready for the owner to start to use. We can also add in custom features for particular sites. See the links page for examples of STS based sites.
